Dear Church Family,

I am writing to share some exciting news with you. I’ve decided to join the Peace Corps, a program that sends volunteers to work on development projects around the world. I began my service in Mozambique, Africa in August of 2024, and I’ll be here for about 27 months. The Peace Corps focuses on areas like education, health, and community development. My role involves improving health as a Community Health and Youth Services Promoter. This health program is to support the youths’ effective transition to a healthy, resilient, and engaged adulthood within a supportive environment. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to the village of Chongoene, in the Gaza providence. Upon completion of my Portuguese language training, I will be assigned to a secondary school to help youth solve health problems. This includes providing guidance and support for all health problem including HIV/AIDS, Malaria and sexually transmitted infections. I feel called to this service because this aligns with my faith and desire to make a difference in the world. It is my belief that this is a way for me to live out the values we cherish in our church community. I would greatly appreciate your support and prayers as I embark on this journey. Thank you for being a part of this chapter in my life.

Blessings, Jade Peterson
