Dear Members of the Saint Ambrose Family,
With gratitude and joy I write on behalf of the Vestry, to invite you to a soft opening of our newly-remodeled Kitchen, Parish Hall and Sacristy on Sunday, November 30.
Thanks be to God and to the generous grant from our diocese, the tireless work of all those who aided in the completion of this project. Please note the following:
- All required inspections have been passed.
- Most of the major appliances are installed, and we anticipate the arrival of the replacement appliances (as per contract) very soon.
- As is common with any major construction effort, we do have a punch-list of remaining items and a few finishing touches the contractors have agreed to complete. These are relatively small in scope and should be resolved within a few days.
- While the floors and certain details may still require final cleaning and fine-tuning, we believe in transparency and invite you to preview the space now and celebrate how far we’ve come.
- Although the final cost numbers have yet to be fully tabulated, it appears the project remains within the budget projection.
In the sacristy we now are sourcing an appropriate wall-hanging system for our frontals and other sacred dressings. These are relatively heavy and require special wall-hanging units — sourcing these mounting units has proven somewhat problematic. We are now looking to obtain a custom solution.
We believe this occasion is an opportunity for our parish community to walk through the remodeled spaces and appreciate the transformation together. You will have the chance to view the new Kitchen, the updated Sacristy, the refreshed Parish Hall, and reflect on how this renewal supports our mission of service,
fellowship and worship.
In keeping with our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community, the Vestry has approved an upgrade to our campus “Awareness & Video System.” While it is regrettable that we must take this step, we believe it is prudent in the world in which we live. Our prior system was dated and no longer
met current standards.
The upgrade now gives us functional awareness of activity across the entirety of our campus—including interior and exterior spaces—and enhances our ability to respond appropriately to any situation. As part of this process, you may discover that the fobs distributed years ago—some more than a decade ago—are no longer functional. Traditional keys remain operative for the time being. The Vestry is actively designing a policy for distribution of access credentials to vendors, contractors, and members. During this transition period, if any member of Saint Ambrose needs access, please contact the Wardens or our Rector. Remote entry can be provided under controlled conditions. (Michael -919-280-0857 and Penny -919-795-9728).
Remember please join us after the service (8:00 AM or 10:15 AM) on Sunday. Feel free to bring your curiosity, your thankful heart, and your warm fellowship.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has guided, supported, prayed for and participated in this project. Your commitment and generosity have borne fruit, and we rejoice in this new chapter for our church family.
We look forward to seeing you.
In faithful service,
Ronald Penny
