Contract Position: Director of Communications
Reports to: The Rector
Position Repurposed and Effective:
Hours: Part-time (10 hours PER MONTH) with no benefits

Scope of Work
The Saint Ambrose Director of Communications (“Contractor”) shall be responsible for the following services (“Services”):
1) Design and layout media such as brochures, flyers, direct mail, and other forms of printed materials;
2) Update the website as needed
3) Evaluate and numerically grow internal and external engagement: website and social media via social media optimization
Specific Responsibilities
Identity
- Help develop a consistent graphic identity for Saint Ambrose
- Ensure that communications consistently reflect the identity of our parish (appearance, tone, & message)
- Assist staff and lay leaders in advertising special events and church functions
Electronic Communications
- Manage the parish website; updating pages as needed
- Maintaining current images, working with lay volunteers to take new photos of parish events
- Produce flyers, brochures, postcards and other printed material as needed
Social Media
- With the Rector and other staff, oversee our social media channels
- Create social media content that helps spread our brand identity and message
Media
- Work with local and regional media, as well as with wider church communicators, to place stories about Saint Ambrose’s ministries and events
- Produce and place ads as needed
Required Skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a variety of people while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Ability to set and maintain boundaries and expectations around timelines and workloads
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of social media
- Ability to learn new skills as needed
- May require on-call activity after regular office hours
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of WordPress or similar CMS
- Knowledge of Constant Contact or similar email provider
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphics software
- Knowledge of church management software (ACS) is a plus
- Familiarity with Apple (Mac) computer and devices is a plus
