On Sept. 15, the School of Theology unveiled a portrait of the Rev. Dr. Joseph Green, T’65, H’10. The portrait now hangs in the foyer of Hamilton Hall. The School of Theology classes of T’17 and T’19 commissioned the portrait because of his role in making Sewanee more diverse and welcoming and in recognition for all he has done during his ministry.

The Rev. Joseph Green was St. Ambrose’s rector from 1957-1958 and later chaplain at St. Augustine’s University. Fr. Green was one of the first black graduates of Sewanee. He was our 145th anniversary preacher in 2013. He is 94 years old and celebrates 65 years of marriage to his wife.
